Permian and Cana Woodford drive the US gain
Two of the major basins Baker Hughes tracks individually added rigs this week. The Permian climbed by 3 to 261 rigs, the largest total in the report by a wide margin. The Cana Woodford added 1 rig to reach 20. The Williston was the only tracked basin to lose rigs, falling by 1 to 27. Every other basin held steady, including Haynesville at 55, Eagle Ford at 44, Marcellus at 24, and Utica at 12.
