Baker Hughes will build a dedicated research and technology center inside Kuwait Oil Company's Ahmadi Innovation Valley under a new multi-year contract, the company said Tuesday.
A key technology partner
The agreement positions Baker Hughes as a technology collaborator inside Ahmadi Innovation Valley (AIV), Kuwait Oil Company's initiative to build an in-country research and innovation hub. The hub is meant to address Kuwait Oil Company's upstream development priorities.
The two companies will focus on developing and deploying technology that optimizes production and flow assurance, along with other items on Kuwait Oil Company's broader technology roadmap.
Digital and AI tools
Baker Hughes said the work will draw on its portfolio of digital and artificial intelligence automation tools. The company markets these tools as ways to help operators increase recovery from existing wells, lower operating costs, reduce water production and cut power consumption.
Baker Hughes Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said the goal is to deliver "tailored technology solutions at scale" that improve production performance and efficiency for Kuwait Oil Company.
A dedicated R&D center
As part of the deal, Baker Hughes will build a research and technology development center inside AIV. Baker Hughes said the center will support continuous evaluation of new technology solutions, their deployment at scale, and the development of local expertise.
Baker Hughes has operated in Kuwait for more than four decades, providing upstream energy technology and making investments that benefit local communities there.
