Baker Hughes will supply 17 deepwater horizontal tree systems, along with associated manifolds and connections, control and distribution systems, for the Kutei Northern Hub development offshore Indonesia, the company said Aug. 10, 2026. Baker Hughes described the award, from Searah North Ganal Limited, as substantial. Searah North Ganal Limited is a subsidiary of Searah Limited, the joint venture between Eni and PETRONAS.
What the equipment supports
The systems will support the integrated development of the Geng North field, which Baker Hughes described as recently discovered, and the Gehem field. A horizontal tree system is equipment installed on the seabed that controls the flow of oil or gas from a subsea well.
Baker Hughes will also deploy its Cordant asset protection and condition monitoring systems on the project, intended to identify and mitigate risks to equipment and prevent unplanned downtime.
Manufacturing in Indonesia
Baker Hughes will deliver the tree systems from its Global Manufacturing Center for Subsea Trees in Batam, Indonesia. The company's Balikpapan facility will provide additional operational and service support.
Baker Hughes Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment Amerino Gatti said the project is "an important step in Indonesia's drive to deliver natural gas and LNG" for the country and the broader region. The company said the equipment is meant to support subsea operations for natural gas production and strengthen Indonesia's LNG capacity and domestic energy supply.
Builds on a 2025 order
The award follows an earlier contract on the same project. In 2025, Baker Hughes was awarded a flash gas compressors order for the Kutei Northern Hub's floating production, storage and offloading vessel. That vessel can process more than 1 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 90,000 barrels of condensate per day, with storage capacity of 1.4 million barrels.
