Cheniere Energy said Bechtel Energy turned over the seventh and final liquefaction train of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 project on August 28, completing a build that raises the company's total LNG production capacity by more than 20 percent, to about 56 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Cheniere issued full notice to proceed on the project to Bechtel, its engineering, procurement and construction contractor, in June 2022, and first LNG production from the project's first train came in December 2024. Chairman, President and CEO Jack Fusco said the project was delivered "safely, on budget and ahead of schedule."

5,000th cargo loaded at Sabine Pass
Cheniere separately marked the production and export of its 5,000th LNG cargo, loaded aboard the Yari LNG carrier, which left Sabine Pass on August 29 bound for Asia. The company said it reached 5,000 cargoes faster than any other LNG producer worldwide. Fusco called the milestone "a remarkable achievement" that came "just 10 years after our first cargo." Since shipping its first cargo in 2016, Cheniere has supplied more than 340 million tonnes of LNG to markets worldwide, and its LNG platform now accounts for more than 10 percent of global LNG capacity.
The Gulf Coast platform
Cheniere Energy operates the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi liquefaction facilities on the U.S. Gulf Coast. The two sites now have a combined production capacity of about 56 mtpa in operation, plus roughly 5 mtpa of additional production capacity under construction. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas, with additional offices in London, Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, Dubai and Washington, D.C.
