China Southern Power Grid demonstrated a distribution network planning agent that produced a full planning report in 10 minutes, including a risk assessment and grid topology recommendations. The utility showed the system, called MegaWatt Yunrui, at the 2026 World AI Conference and the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance in Shanghai on July 22, 2026.
The agent was named one of the conference's Top 10 Signature Exhibits, and CSG said it was the only project from a central state-owned enterprise to receive that distinction.
The company is pitching a stack rather than a single tool. CSG also showed MegaWatt Multimodal 2.0, a foundation model built for the power sector, and PowerAtomOS, a proprietary operating system for power-sector IoT devices that the company says is designed to manage hundreds of millions of connected devices across its service area.
CSG described the platform as "China's first industry-level electricity-carbon-computing coordination platform", bringing together three systems it says have traditionally run independently. Several of the exhibits were presented by the company as domestic firsts.
The timing tracks a policy shift the company points to: coordination between computing infrastructure and power systems appeared in China's Government Work Report for the first time this year.
