Murphy Oil Corporation reached first oil from the Lac Da Vang field in Block 15-1/05 offshore Vietnam on September 27, 2026. The company expects net peak production of about 10 to 15 MBOEPD in 2028 and 2029. Output is set to ramp up through 2028 as more wells come online.

The same update covers two new oil results and a Gulf of America start-up. The Vietnam start is the one that changes the production base. The two wells add resource that still has to be appraised and developed.

Lac Da Vang and the Lac Da Trang North find

The Lac Da Trang North-1X well, also in Block 15-1/05, met 131 feet (40 meters) of net oil pay. It was drilled to a measured depth of about 12,579 feet (3,834 meters) in 147 feet (45 meters) of water. Murphy and its partners will review the data and assess appraisal and development options.

Murphy says the producing Lac Da Vang field gives the discovery nearby infrastructure for a possible tieback, which it describes as a route to a capital-efficient, shorter-cycle development. Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co., Ltd. operates the block with a 40 percent working interest. PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation Ltd. holds 35 percent and SK Earthon Co. Ltd. holds 25 percent.

Bubale West-1X offshore Cote d'Ivoire

The Bubale West-1X appraisal well in Block CI-103 reached about 19,357 feet (5,900 meters) in 9,039 feet (2,755 meters) of water. It found about 88 feet (27 meters) of net oil pay in the Turonian reservoir, plus further hydrocarbons in the deeper Albian reservoir. Preliminary log and fluid-sample analysis points to high-quality oil.

Murphy will fold the well data into its existing subsurface work to shape the rest of the Bubale appraisal program. Murphy CI-103 Oil Co., Ltd. is operator with an 85 percent working interest, and PETROCI holds the other 15 percent.

Chinook #8 in the Gulf of America

The Chinook #8 development well in Walker Ridge Block 425 is producing through the Pioneer FPSO in the Cascade-Chinook field. Its initial gross rate is about 15 MBOEPD, in line with pre-drill expectations. Murphy holds an 86.7 percent working interest through its subsidiaries. Petrobras America Inc. holds the remaining 13.3 percent through its ownership interest in MP GOM.

President and CEO Eric M. Hambly said the results show Murphy's ability to "create value across exploration, appraisal and development."
