PJM Interconnection's members have elected Janet Dietrich to the PJM Board of Managers. She fills the remaining term of David Mills, who left the board in April to become PJM's president and CEO. Dietrich's term took effect immediately and runs through May 2027, when she would be eligible for reelection.
Dietrich brings more than three decades of global leadership experience in energy, spanning wholesale and retail markets, commodity trading, finance, risk, infrastructure and asset management, and large-scale business transformation. Her work has covered the full energy value chain, including both conventional energy markets and the energy transition and lower-carbon solutions.
She spent her most recent 13 years at Macquarie Group, where she held senior roles including:
- Global Head of Energy Transition and Strategy
- Head of Corporate Sales Americas
- Co-Head of Oil & Gas Financing Americas
How the board nomination works
PJM's board elections follow a process set out in its FERC-approved Operating Agreement. An eight-person Nominating Committee recommends candidates for a vote by PJM's full membership. The committee includes one representative elected annually from each of PJM's five member sectors, plus three board members, one of whom is the non-voting chair.
Mills said Dietrich "was nominated from a competitive pool of candidates" based on her expertise in the energy sector. He added that he is confident "her valuable insight will help guide the organization through a very dynamic time."
Dietrich holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Kentucky, where she also sits on the Finance Advisory Board at the Gatton College of Business and Economics. She completed AI coursework at the MIT Sloan School of Management and coursework in circular economy and sustainability strategies at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. She also sits on the board of The Houston Alumni & Youth (HAY) Center, which supports youth aging out of foster care.
