The US rig count held at 588 last week, Baker Hughes reported, with no net change nationally even though the Permian added three rigs. Canada's count fell by three, to 216.

Regional breakdown

The Permian was the only region tracked by Baker Hughes to add rigs this week, rising to 263. Two regions pulled back: the Granite Wash dropped one rig to 19, and the Marcellus dropped one to 24. Baker Hughes reported no change across the rest of the regions it tracks.
