2D Fusion AB announced on Nov. 5, 2026 that it is offering nuclear fusion energy products commercially. The Stockholm company says reactor elements and control systems for fusion power plants are scheduled for first deliveries in Q3-2029, and that the first 1 GW plant built on its products and technology is expected to be in commercial operation by 2032.
Cost and fuel claims
2D Fusion estimates the total production cost of the electricity at less than EUR 0.02 per kWh in the short term. The company says the fuel is extracted from natural water and that the process uses deuterium-deuterium fusion.
Waste
According to the company, the plants would leave no radioactive waste. It says the fusion process produces only helium-4 besides energy, and describes helium-4 as a harmless inert gas.
Timeline and outlook from the company
Acting CEO PJ Peltola said the company expects its invention to replace all fossil fuels and all nuclear fission power plants worldwide within 30-40 years. He tied that expectation to what he called a significant cost advantage.
