Amazon Data Services, Inc. has filed four separate project registrations with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a data center campus near Boling, under the name Project Eagle. The state filings put the combined construction cost at an estimated $1.2 billion.

The filings describe four individual buildings, labeled Buildings A through D, to be built on Eaglewood Road in Wharton County, about 60 miles southwest of Houston. Each building is listed at 189,060 square feet with an estimated construction cost of $300 million.

Four buildings, one site

Per building Combined (4 buildings)
Floor area 189,060 sq ft 756,240 sq ft
Construction cost $300 million $1.2 billion

The campus is planned on approximately 2,700 acres near FM 1301 and FM 442. Built as proposed, the Amazon Web Services campus would be the largest data center site in Texas.

Room for more

The four buildings now registered would fill less than one percent of the 2,700-acre tract. The rest of the property gives Amazon space for infrastructure that supports the buildings, and for later construction phases not covered by the current filings.
