Chris Stark is stepping down as the UK government's Head of Mission Control for Clean Power, just over two years after Ed Miliband appointed him to the role. Miliband moved to the Foreign Office after Andy Burnham became prime minister this summer, and Miatta Fahnbulleh took over as energy secretary.
Stark said the job brought developers, government, NESO and Ofgem behind a single goal, and credited it with securing "enough new clean power to meet the needs of over 20 million homes." He also pointed to renewables auctions that broke records and the removal of barriers including England's ban on onshore wind and the backlog in grid connections.
Fahnbulleh thanked Stark for his service, saying he leaves "strong foundations as we press ahead with our drive to clean power."
