Vattenfall's profit for the first nine months of 2026 rose 90% to SEK 24,838 million, up from SEK 13,097 million a year earlier. The third quarter was weaker: profit for July-September fell 42% to SEK 1,309 million from SEK 2,269 million. Vattenfall's interim report attributes the softer quarter to nuclear power outages and a lower hydrologic balance.

Projects and deals in the quarter

Vattenfall won the tenders for the Hesselø (0.8 GW) and North Sea I Mid (1 GW) offshore wind projects in Denmark. Offshore construction began on the Nordlicht I wind farm (1 GW) in the German North Sea.

It also took a final investment decision on the Brunsbüttel battery project in Germany, with 254 MW of output and 1,000 MWh of storage capacity. New long-term agreements cover large-scale battery optimization in Germany and the Netherlands.

In Sweden, Vattenfall expanded its public EV charging network by acquiring Nima Energy's ultra-fast charging business. A permit is in place for a new power line section to the Svartön industrial area in Luleå, which the company says enables further industry decarbonisation.

The company said it continues to invest in the energy system of the future. The complete interim report and presentation images are available at group.vattenfall.com.
