ADNOC took a final investment decision on the Umm Shaif Gas Cap development offshore Abu Dhabi, working with partners TotalEnergies, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation. The project targets more than 600 million standard cubic feet a day of natural gas and associated gas liquids, with production expected by 2030.

The drilling contract

As part of the sanctioning, ADNOC Drilling was awarded a $365 million contract covering a 14-well drilling and integrated drilling services program. The work is to be delivered over 18 months, using three existing rigs. Three separate EPC packages for offshore infrastructure were awarded to other contractors alongside the drilling award.

A field producing since the 1960s

Umm Shaif is Abu Dhabi's longest-operating offshore field, in production since the 1960s.

Part of a wider gas push

The gas cap development builds on ADNOC's broader gas growth strategy. That strategy also includes the recently awarded Bab Gas Cap concession and a new LNG marketing and trading platform based in Abu Dhabi Global Market.
