Grid infrastructure investment across Europe will need to reach €650 billion to €900 billion between 2026 and 2035, according to an ETIP SNET position paper. Chint, a provider of transmission and distribution equipment, will present its latest power grid technology at CIGRE 2026, an industry event running August 23-28 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. The company will staff Booth A196 on Level 1, showing equipment for power grids, battery energy storage systems and AI data center infrastructure.
What Chint is showing
Chint's portfolio for the event spans four areas:
- High voltage: 1,000kV low-loss, low-noise oil-immersed power transformers and 750kV natural ester oil-immersed power transformers
- Switchgear: SF6-free medium- and high-voltage switchgear rated at 24kV, 145kV and 420kV. SF6 is a gas commonly used to insulate high-voltage equipment, and switchgear built without it avoids that gas
- Energy storage: cascading energy storage systems and 13.8MW PCS integrated substations
- Data centers: solid-state transformers, semiconductor circuit breakers and Data Center Power Pods
Company engineers will be on hand during the event to discuss power transformers, SF6-free switchgear, prefabricated substations and data center applications.
The pitch to utilities
Beibei Zheng, Vice President of Chint Global, said "Europe's grid is evolving faster than ever." She said utilities are preparing their networks for growth in AI, electrification and digital infrastructure, and that Chint wants to use the event to discuss grid technology with customers and industry partners. Chint has invited transmission and distribution system operators and engineering, procurement and construction contractors to a roundtable and to visit the booth.
