Equinor bought 415,000 of its own shares on the Oslo Stock Exchange on 14 August 2026, paying a weighted average price of NOK 382.7682 per share for a total of NOK 158,848,803. The purchase is part of a buy-back program the company uses to source shares for its share-based incentive programs for employees and management.
A buy-back program is a company using cash to purchase its own listed shares on the open market rather than issuing new stock. Equinor announced this program on 4 February 2026, running from 13 February 2026 to 15 January 2027. The total purchase amount authorized is NOK 1,971,000,000, with a cap of 19,600,000 shares. Of that cap, up to 7,920,000 shares could be bought between 13 February and 15 May 2026, and up to 11,680,000 shares between 15 May 2026 and 15 January 2027.

The August 14 purchase brings the program's cumulative total to 3,399,081 shares, at a weighted average price of NOK 336.5166, for a combined value of NOK 1,413,847,326.

Treasury holdings
After the August 14 trades, Equinor owns 16,809,915 of its own shares, equal to 0.70% of its share capital. That total combines shares bought under the previous buy-back program for employee incentive purposes with shares bought under Equinor's other disclosed buy-back programs, which are intended to reduce the company's issued share capital.
