Predator Oil & Gas Holdings has drilled its MOU-6 well to a total depth of 950 meters and penetrated a gross upper interval of 21.2 meters in the TGB-6 Submarine Fan, against about 13.2 meters in the earlier MOU-3 well. The company also said it has regulatory approval to drill Snowcap-3 onshore Trinidad.

MOU-6 drilling results

The well reached its planned depth within the 20 days the company had announced as guidance. It found the top of the primary target, the TGB-6 Fan, 600 meters northwest of MOU-3.

Predator said the thicker interval matches its pre-drill forecast, which was built on 2D seismic inversion data and a depositional model for the fan. That model covers an area that includes the MOU-1 well, 6.5 kilometers to the southwest, and the MOU-3 well, 600 meters to the southeast.

Wireline logs have been acquired, including spectral gamma ray and Formation Microresistivity (FMI) logs.

Completion and well test

The well is being completed so it can be perforated at up to 150 psi under-balanced, using larger 4.5-inch TCP guns across the 21.2 meters of gross upper interval. A single well test will follow, and the company said test operations are expected to start shortly.

Chief Executive Paul Griffiths attributed the improved cuttings samples and wireline logs to the new well design and mud weight strategy. He said the better wellbore conditions, the larger guns and the wider set of logs should give well test information that can potentially calibrate the sections penetrated by MOU-1, MOU-3 and MOU-6.

Next steps for the biogenic gas evaluation

Once testing is done and the new data is processed, Predator will fold the results into its existing data to update the biogenic gas potential of the area covered by the three wells.

To help with that work, the company has signed a Confidentiality Agreement with Geo Line Solution S.R.L., a Romanian company with experience in the producing biogenic gas fields of Romania and western Ukraine. The aim is to potentially obtain analogues for calibrating the section penetrated between 800 and 1,100 meters in MOU-1, MOU-3 and MOU-6.

Snowcap-3 in Trinidad

Regulatory approval has been received to drill Snowcap-3 in the Cory Moruga Licence onshore Trinidad. Predator said it will give a further update on progress and timing after its Moroccan operations are complete. Griffiths said the approval came on schedule and that operational focus will now shift to Trinidad.
