TotalEnergies has awarded Vallourec a contract to supply oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and line pipe for the Absheron gas field, in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The package comes to more than 16,000 tons of tubular products.
The order is a supply deal for one field, and the scope splits cleanly in two: pipe for the wells and pipe for the lines that carry the output.
What Vallourec will supply
The OCTG scope is premium pipe with VAM SLIJ-3 semi-flush connections, which Vallourec designed for demanding offshore environments. It comes with accessories and the company's dope-free CLEANWELL solution.
The line pipe scope covers about 159 km of pipe with an anti-corrosion coating, for both onshore and offshore use. Vallourec will also support TotalEnergies through its local VAM Caspian entity.
The field behind the order
Absheron lies about 100 km southeast of Baku, in around 500 m of water. The field is being developed to produce up to 6 billion cu m of gas per year and 47,000 barrels per day of condensate. The gas is destined for the domestic market in Azerbaijan and for export.
