Worley has won three engineering services contracts from Burr Computer Environments, Inc. (BCEI) to support energy center projects for data center campuses in the United States. The contracts cover engineering, detailed design and procurement support services.
The projects call for behind-the-meter power generation, power produced on-site rather than drawn from the public grid, to serve the data center campuses. The finished energy centers will combine several generation types with storage and campus wiring:
- Gas turbines
- Aeroderivative turbines, engines adapted from aircraft turbine designs
- Reciprocating engines
- Battery energy storage systems
- Intra-campus electrical distribution
Delivery spread across three US offices
Worley will carry out the work from its offices in Houston, Charleston, West Virginia, and Reading, all in the United States, with support from the company's Global Integrated Delivery team.
CEO ties the award to data center demand
Chris Ashton, chief executive officer of Worley, said the three contracts amount to "a significant program of energy infrastructure" backing US data center growth. He cited "increasing demand for reliable power solutions" for power-intensive computing workloads, and said the award fits Worley's push into power and data center infrastructure.
