Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America LLC filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on September 17, 2026, proposing a $139 million project to add gas compression and a new delivery point in Texas.
The project
The company, known as Natural and operated by Kinder Morgan, wants to build a new Compressor Station 112 in Moore County, Texas, made up of four 5,500-horsepower gas-fired compressor units totaling 22,000 horsepower, along with supporting auxiliary facilities. The plan also calls for a new delivery point in Deaf Smith County, Texas.
Capacity and cost
Natural says the Amarillo Expansion Project would add 321,200 dekatherms a day of new firm natural gas transportation capacity. A dekatherm is a standard unit for measuring natural gas by its heat content. Combined with capacity the pipeline already has that is not under contract, the project would bring total firm transportation service to 550,000 dekatherms a day, dedicated to electric power generation.
Regulatory timeline
The application was filed under section 7(c) of the Natural Gas Act and Part 157 of FERC's regulations, and is docketed as CP26-581-000. FERC staff have 90 days from the notice to either complete an environmental review or issue a schedule for one. The deadline to file a motion to intervene, protest, or comment is 5 p.m. Eastern time on October 22, 2026.
We reported last month that Phillips 66, Kinder Morgan and HF Sinclair sanctioned a $5 billion pipeline.
