Zelestra's Brazatortas I, II and IV solar plants in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain, have reached full commercial operation on schedule, the renewable energy company said. The three plants total 57 MWac and will supply about 130 GWh of renewable energy a year to Tesla under a power purchase agreement, with Zelestra's in-house engineering, procurement and construction team handling delivery.
Jaime Burguete, Zelestra's chief executive in Spain, called the milestone important for the company, saying it ensures "Tesla has the energy that they need on time."
The Brazatortas plants add to a broader relationship between the two companies. Tesla recently signed a separate 140 MWac power purchase agreement with Zelestra for the Lumen Farm solar project in Texas.
In Spain, Zelestra has built a 6.8 GW pipeline of solar, battery storage and wind projects, of which 1.2 GW is already under contract. Spain is one of four markets, along with the United States, Germany and Italy, where the company is focused on growth.
