Baker Hughes has won a significant contract from Eni to supply subsea production systems and services for the deepwater Cronos gas development offshore Cyprus. The company announced the award on Oct. 28, 2026, and said it was booked in the third quarter of 2026.
The pitch is speed. Eni is running Cronos on an accelerated schedule, and Baker Hughes says it will use standardized, configurable subsea equipment to cut complexity and shorten the path to first gas. In our read, that makes the supplier's catalog as much the product as any single piece of hardware: the faster the kit can be configured rather than designed from scratch, the more of Eni's timeline it protects.
What the contract covers
The scope includes deepwater subsea trees, wellheads, connectors, manifolds, topside controls and associated services. Work is already underway, and Baker Hughes expects initial equipment deliveries in the first half of 2027.
Signing and statements
Eni Cyprus Managing Director Antonio Renzulli and Baker Hughes Vice President of Subsea & Surface Pressure Systems Domenico Di Giambattista signed the agreement in Cyprus on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. Eni Chief Operating Officer Guido Brusco was also present at the ceremony.
Amerino Gatti, Baker Hughes Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment, said the company has worked with Eni on deepwater projects around the world for many years and called Cronos another important step in that relationship. He said Baker Hughes is supporting Eni's effort to bring its reserves into production safely on a fast-track approach.
Baker Hughes describes its supplier-led approach as designed to give greater schedule predictability so Eni can meet key project milestones.
