Tropical Storm Cristobal had maximum sustained winds of 35 knots, with gusts to 45 knots, as of 0300 UTC Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center's advisory number 3. The storm's center was near 37.7N, 39.5W in the open north Atlantic, compared with 37.3N, 40.2W three hours earlier.
Cristobal was moving east-northeast at 14 knots, with an estimated minimum central pressure of 1010 millibars. Tropical-storm-force winds extended out only in the southeast quadrant, reaching 70 nautical miles from the center; the storm had no wind field to its north, west, or southwest.
NHC's forecast track has Cristobal continuing to weaken. By 1200 UTC Thursday, the agency expects the system to become a post-tropical remnant low with maximum winds of 30 knots and gusts to 40 knots, centered near 38.7N, 37.5W. The agency's forecast calls for the system to dissipate entirely by 0000 UTC Friday.
The center requested 3-hourly ship reports from vessels within 300 miles of the storm's position. The next advisory is due at 0900 UTC Thursday. Forecaster Hagen issued the advisory.
