ABB has made a minority investment in LevelTen Energy and formed a strategic partnership with the company, expanding the Swiss engineering group's ability to help industrial and commercial customers buy clean power. The companies announced the deal Aug. 6, 2026, in Zurich.

LevelTen Energy, headquartered in the United States, describes itself as the world's largest marketplace for clean energy transactions, including power purchase agreements. The company has facilitated more than 20 GW of clean energy transactions across more than 35 markets in North America and Europe, working with hyperscalers, commercial and industrial companies, and utilities.

The investment adds procurement capability to ABB's energy and carbon advisory business, pairing its work in electrification, digital solutions and energy management with LevelTen's trading platform. Stuart Thompson, president of ABB's Electrification Service division, said the partnership gives ABB "a straightforward way to secure long-term clean energy at the right price."

Regulatory requirements are pushing companies beyond simple annual renewable energy matching toward tighter rules on when and where the power they use is generated. Customers meeting those rules increasingly turn to battery storage, microgrids and energy management systems, areas where ABB already works, and LevelTen's environmental attribute certificate trading complements that work.

Bryce Smith, LevelTen's chief executive, said the companies have "a real opportunity to help even more customers decarbonize."

The investment came through ABB Electrification Ventures, the venture arm of ABB's Electrification business, which has put more than $110 million into 18 startups since 2021, including a recent investment in Gridcog.
